Beginning Teachers May 2026
This event is open to all teachers with fewer than two years of experience and is designed to support and strengthen early‑career educators as they continue to develop their practice.

This session supports K–6 teachers in understanding how Indigenous Knowledge is woven throughout all subjects in the new curriculum. Educators will explore key themes of identity and land, and discuss how these can be meaningfully addressed in KUSPs. Participants will also be introduced to the Teacher Foundational Knowledge Resource, a practical tool to support respectful and confident weaving of Indigenous perspectives into professional practice.

Shannon is a Métis auntie and educator who is passionate about the weaving of Indigenous Knowledges and ways of knowing into K-6 curriculum. Anti-racism, the ongoing effects of colonization, and Indigenous student wellbeing are also areas of interest.
